Lecturer of the Year Award: Top 10 nominee!

I must be doing something right… I received this email recently:

Dear Geoff Shaw,

It is with great pleasure that I congratulate you on being one of top nominees of the 2010 UniJobs Lecturer of the Year Award, which places you among the top ten Lecturers at The University of Melbourne for 2010.

Lecturer of the Year is an award designed to allow students and fellow staff member to recognise lecturers who have gone above and beyond in their efforts to better the lives of their students, and their campus communities. Last year the initiative attracted over 70,000 votes, and more than 4000 university lecturers were nominated, making the 2010 award the most popular to date.

I just wanted to take the time to congratulate you personally, and bring you up to speed with the award and the positive effects it has on the members of all university communities across the country.

We believe the award helps staff find their voice, and offers them a truly unique way of having their diligence rewarded not only by the students whose lives they enrich, but also by the colleagues that work beside them on a day to day basis.

In the spirit of being environmentally friendly, please find attached your E-Certificate acknowledging your achievement as a nominee.

So again congratulations to you, and to all staff and students at your university for taking one step closer to a unified and more positively charged academic community.

Kind Regards,

Melissa
